in the disapperance of thier daughter. And a case was brought to court, would you like to be a member of the jury, on the case?
(i apologise if this Q has come up before, but this subject is so vast, and hard to keep up with)

I didn't think there was an accusetory tone to the Q. Perhaps it was the capital IF? I havn't answered many Q's on this subject, for as great man once said "alot of people said alot of things about it at the time, and i didn't say anything, because i didn't know what to say. But in the fullness of time, or sometimes in the fullness of time, something comes to you". But i have found it an interesting subject to view. I love a good conspiracy theory. It's easy to sit and be judge, jury and executioner on this site, everyones entitled to their oppinion obviously, and we could dream up conspiracies about anything if we set our minds to it. I'm sure many people in th media have come to similar conclusions, but are unable to report it as it can only be seen as speculation, and would hamper any future court case. I hope someday, someone will be brought to justice for this. I agree there has been alot of bile spouted at the McCanns, for which i think they would have grounds for liable.

Also it's all good and well to say "I would never leave my kids unattended"etc, but let's not forget about the youg girl snatched from her home whilst having a bath, not too long ago, her parent being in the next ROOM. Now i don't know who is responsible for for the disapearance of this poor girl, i don't think any of us do, otherwise we wouldn't be talking about her. And i don't know the McCann's or their way of life, how their life was before this happened to them, but i find it hard to believe, that they set off on holiday with the intention of their daughter being abbducted. There are some very sick and twisted people in the world and thousands of children go 'missing' every year, which we never know about and many charaties have been set up to help find these children. so why the spleen vented at the McCann? No show of anger, lack of tears, no sorrow? No-one knows what goes on behind closed doors. I find the views on this subject interesting, and welcome peoples oppinions on it.

The Hate brigade would be queueing up.
Just look at some of the answers, such nice fair minded people.
Anyone with any sense would not let them near a jury.

Your not the first to make this comment and its also been said that if the McCanns were off a council estate they would have been butchered by the press but the are educated Drs. How anyone could leave a 3 year old and 2 year old twins unsupervised whilst they went for a meal is beyond me - it doesnt matter how near or far they were from the apartment or how often they were checking on the kids. I pity them now but they are not totally blameless in the whole sorry mess. I really fear for poor Maddie.

No, I would not like to be on a jury dealing with anything to do with something bad happening to a child - no matter who was the defendant or what were any of the other details.
Many of the responses to this question simply underline the frivolous and careless attitude to this issue. A horrible catastrophe has befallen this family - her parents (their failings on May 3rd notwithstanding) are victims too, as are her siblings and her extended family. You will,no doubt, realise that I do not expect to learn that Gerry & Kate McCann had anything more to do with Madeleine's disappearance than the fact of having not been in the apartment when she vanished.
It is shameful that people continue to indulge in this campaign of hatred. I do not accept the line that they are expressing concern and care for Madeleine - there is only spite, smugness and venom in their words, no kindness or compassion, no willingness to feel pity for a family in anguish and despair. No-one with any of these qualities would seek to be subjected to the ordeal that serving on a jury dealing with anything related to this would surely involve.

Something just never sounded right to me in this case. I feel that, and I know i know nothing about this case than what the news has said its just my thoughts, but i have thought that the parents had something to do with it, besides the serious serious neglect of their children. Why would anyone leave their 3 children under the age of 5 in a hotel room alone, in a foreign country no less!!!??? this is crazy i don't leave my two year old alone to take out the trash for two minutes let alone go out to eat across the street!!! The parents need to be held accountable and have their children taken away so that they don't go "missing" as well!

I agree with Eden, fantasising about seeing the downfall of these parents is downright bullying.
Lets get first base covered first....someone else has that child and there are very wrong if they do or someone else had brought on the death of that child and they are the murderers. While the parents are blamed left right and centre for their mistake, the real crimminal is free to carry on destroying lives. And if the worst has happened to that wee girl, then the oportunist it to blame.
The worst comment I have heard here if if Madeleine is dead then the parents are to blame, how horrible when the person who took the life is to blame, despite a series of errors from the parents. In their shoes, I would be horrified if folk were saying they are the only ones responsible here.
I have done jury service over a suspicious death and there is absutley no room for personal judgement whatsoever. The moment you say I think, you are off the panel.

Patonroan - I think that common sense would prevail and a translator would be in court - as I don't think too many of the party involved speak Portuguese - so hardly academic! I would love to know what really happened....
