Not Sodom and Gomorrah AGAIN; don;t you people actually READ your Bible?

The story of Sodom and Gomorrah actually condemns inhospitality and idolatry, NOT homosexuality. Read the Scriptural cross-references: Deuteronomy 29:23, Isaiah 1:9, Jeremiah 23:14, Lamentations 4:6, Ezekiel 16:49-50, Amos 4:11, Zephaniah 2:9, Matthew 10:15 / Luke 10:12, Luke 17:29, Romans 9:29, Jude v.7, Revelation 11:8

NOWHERE in the Scriptures does it say that the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah was homosexual sex. Even if the specific point of the story was concerning a sexual matter, rather than hospitality, the issue is rape not homosexuality. Jesus claimed the issue was simply one of showing hospitality to strangers (Luke 10:12). How ironic that those who discriminate against homosexuals seem to be the true practitioners of the sin of Sodom....

Yes, Sodom and Gomorrah did exist, but if you have a concordance, you can look it up and find it syas elsewhere in the Bible that those cities were doestoryd because of --pride-- not homosexuality. This is another instance of where some folk take one passage and hold it up for all to see, but ignore another.

And Sodom and Gomorrah were not especially known for homosexuality, unless of course you have any archeological information you wish to share that says they were. Like some Egyptian or Chaldean tablets that have been deciphered?

If you would actually read that part of the Bible you will see that it gives the reason for the destruction of those towns. It was not for immorality or homosexuality but rather for both towns having refused Gods messengers.

If you are going to quote the Bible as your excuse for being bigoted towards gay citizens you should go to Leviticus and Paul's letters. Of course you could stick with the old testament since that is where Paul's theology came from. If you are going to start living by the "laws of God" as given in Leviticus be prepared. You'll have to give up wearing clothing that are blends (a sin), but on the bright side you can sell your daughters into slavery. Using the Bible as an excuse is a slippery lope indeed.

Of course if you are a US citizen you should be dead set against using the Bible, Quran, Torah or andy other holy book as a basis for laws. We've kind of forgotten about that over here though, haven't we?

Sodom and Gomorrah weren't destroyed because of the gays there, it was because the people there "turned their back on God". If homosexuality were the only reason, then they would still stand, like San Francisco, Stockholm, and Amsterdam.

Turning one's back on God is not recommended for avoiding Holy wrath in the Old Testament. That's one reason Jesus came to Earth, redemption from sin.

Read the New Testament, if you're Christian. If you're not, don't bother. I'll tell you how it ends:

Jesus comes back to Earth, conquers Satan and his minions, and man lives forever in the "New Jerusalem".

1. The story of Sodom and Gomorrah is fiction.
2. The concept of sin is void; it would require the existence both of god and a recognized opinion of such to be meaningful. Neither exists.
3. If God were intent on punishing wrongdoers, Lot was an obvious target; can anyone justify giving one's daughters to strangers to be raped? (See Genesis 19:5).

I don't compare my homosexuality to sins because I don't consider it to be a sin.

Prove to me that Sodom and Gomorrah actually existed and that God destroyed them because of the people's homosexuality and then maybe I'll listen to you. Till then, go back under your rock.

Perhaps you should read up on the reasons in the bible that Sodom/Gomorrah was supposedly destroyed by the mideast version of god. It wasn't for homosexuality, now was it?

You should really read the bible a little more closely, and not just listen to what someone says. It wasn't destroyed because of homosexuality. People say it was because they take it that the men wanted the angels to come out of the house so that they may "know"them. But if you really read the scriptures, it was the entire town, men, women and children. Yeah, the kids really wanted to "know them" like you Christians keep saying. Read and study before you speak. And keep you judgments to yourself. Remember, "judge not lest ye be judged"

Yea, I continuously concept it exchange into kinda loopy too. Have a newborn tell a strict Christian he's gay and a gaggle of them will, or a minimum of used to, attempt and supply them (even stress upon them) lady prostitutes. bypass to the carribian or many Christian African factors and that they are going to rape lesbians to "scientific care them of their sin."
