Catcher in the Rye, J. D. Salinger
and
To Kill A Mockingbird, Harper Lee

Both of these are "musts" for teen readers if you haven't already read them that is.

These are the books I remember reading as a teen:

Piers Anthony's "Xanth" series and "Incarnations of Immortality"series.
Robin McKinley's "The Blue Sword" and "The Hero and The Crown"(some of her other books are teen/young adult, too).
David Edding's "The Elenium" series and "The Tamuli" series(they follow the adventures of Sparhawk).

All are Sci-fi/Fantasy

I have read(and currently waiting for the last book) Terry Goodkind's "Sword of Truth" novels. I became a member of one of the forums for discussing his book, and I was a bit surprised at the amount of teen readers of the books because of some of the books' content. But if you don't mind graphic descriptions of violence, and some sexual content, they are a good read, too.
