My fiance would like to take one 2 days before she misses, or about 10-12 days past ovulation.

The equate brand is a sensitive test--it measures 25 mIU/mL of hCG. 2 days before missed period this test would be about 93% accurate and that is assuming she ovulated 12 days prior.

Most hpt won't show a positive result until a period has been missed. Even the ones that say they can detect hcg earlier don' usually pick up on the hormone until after a period is missed. You can go to the doctor and they can give you a test that is more sensitive to hcg than hpt are.

One pregnancy test is just as good as the next. They all look for the same hormones in your urine. However she is still really early and may not get an accurate test yet. If she is hell bent on taking it though have her use her test first thing in the morning when the urine is most potent. If it's negative well then wait a week or so to take another test.

It depends on the label - some say 5 days before missed period ( 4 days before 1st day of period) and If that is what you have then it could show up positive. also on the label it tells you the chance of it detecting the hormone each day before her expected period. Hope that helps - GOOD LUCK!
