how can you consider some one a friend that you know NOTHING about?

Make a fiend, or make a friend?? Why would you want to make a fiend or a friend without seeing a person or getting to know them?

I believe, you meant a friend and not fiend!

To answer your question, I feel it's up to your own personal judgement and perception about the other person. I have made several people friends, without actually meeting or seeing them. Some have been professional friends till today, and some are simply friends. They have helped me, and I, them. If the friendship is purely for some personal gain or selfish reason, then you must be careful before adding a friend to your list. Thanks.

People make fiends like that all the time. I made a fiend just last week. I will turn it loose upon the world on Wednesday.

I think that it will prove to be the most powerful fiend created to date, but we shall see.

I have been 'pen friends' (and now also 'e-mail friends) with a woman I have never met for the past 9 years. I 'know' only what she's told me over the years, and have 'seen' her only through the photos she sends (I have never sent her a picture of me, because I hate having my picture taken) ... and we know each other so well, and exchange so many 'secrets' (we don't tell ANYONE ELSE, ever) that we are now 'unofficially adopted sisters.'
This is 'the best' of this kind of relationship ... but usually you should keep your 'distance' from a person until you 'know them well enough to be able to trust them' before you offer them close friendship ... but just 'normal friendships' can be made by mail or online, and they may someday turn to the 'amazing relationship' I have with my 'sister' ...

Depends..

I never used to make any friends online without knowing them.

But it happened once that i had to talk to a guy for he was repeatedly sending me messages.
n in one month, he became my best friend and the first time i saw him was recently, 1 year after we met online, and dat too, i went straightaway to his house in chennai for the first time..

So, it depends.. But do not disclose urself beyond a certain extent to an anonymous person (gal/guy) unless u feel confident enough of doing so.

It's impossible to make a friend without knowing about them or seeing them! You only know what you've been told and nothing more. Not anything to base a friendship on!

A fiend? I assume you meant "friend"...and someone you don't know about or see can hardly be considered a friend.

Don't make friends with a "fiend".

It's okay to chat with people but one should use extreme caution with someone on line. You have no idea if they are telling you the truth or maybe a predator. Any of my "friends" on line are just that , only someone unknown that I chat with. No personal info ever given not even my true name. Be caution and stay safe.
