Why aren't these Dems defending the right of the candidate to use any book he/she wants? Why do they seem to get upset or have to quickly point out that they don't have a muslim candidate? Would they be ashamed to have a Muslim candidate? I thought religion wasn't important to Libs.

Because their is no possibility of it. He is not Muslim. The issue isnt with the statement, it is just frustration from years of this kind of crap. This is just one more way to divert attention from the issues and get an emotional response from people who dont know the truth. Youre trying to sway voters with a lie instead of asking people to make an informed decision. If that is the only way you can win then I am disgusted, both with you for doing it, and your followers for being so uninformed that they believe you.
One person in Congress has been sworn in on the Koran (unless more have by now, have they?). That isnt an issue, only when you try to cloud the issues and gain votes with ignorance.

They're not ashamed of Muslims. Keith Ellison, the first Muslim elected to Congress, is a Democrat. It's the right-wingers who threw a snit fit because Ellison wanted to use a Koran for swearing-in photo ops.

Hah...I'm offended by anyone who relies on some religious superstition and a holy book of any kind to establish credibility. I would not give a rats behind what one's religion is but to falsely state one's religion when it is obvious from his website and common information all over the place is to simply lie and attempt to defame the individual. For that reason I would love to see more Muslims and Buddhists etc. in Congress, if for no other reason then to very much irk the neocons.
