It's probably Black Bottom Rot. You need to add calcium to the soil to prevent this. Overwatering can also add to the problem.

Probably overwatering. Tomatos should be deeply watered, but infrequently. They have a very deep root system. Some growers recommend no watering during bearing months.

Everyone is right. Too much water. Bottom Rot!!! I'm not too sure about calcium though.
