I am wondering what comes after division in teaching math? I was thinking of going into pre-algebra, but my cousin doesn't know fractions, and I do not want to teach him pre algebra untill I know that he knows everything needed to go into pre algebra..

So any teachers or people that have alot of experience in math that can help me? All he knows is adding/subtracting/multiplicat... No fractions, or really anything other then the basic math that I listed above.

I'm not a teacher or anything but math happens to be my strongest subjects...you can start off with division because you cant go into fractions without knowing division...division is basically the opposite of multiplication...so..when doing division just think of doing multiplication backwards

For Example:

2 divided by 10 = 5

because 5x2=10...see how your just doing the opposite?

on to fractions...
there are different ways of using fractions
there are:
mixed numbers= 1½
changing fractions into decimals=½=0.50
changing fractions into percents=½=50%
and ther is so much more...
also...you may add that when using algebra you must always use bedmas! You must use bedmas when doing math. bedmas(just remember you must always do it in this order=
B=brackets-find out what the answer is in the brackets before you do any other equation...they look like this (2x3)
E=exponents- After the brackets use exponents...exponents look like this 10² and in exponents all you have to do is seewhat number the little number at the top is and write the big number down that many times and multiply them...so it looks like this...10x10
D=division- division is used after exponents it looks like this...÷..it is basically the opposite of multiplication
M=multiplication- used after division and looks like this...x...and he already know it
A=addition-is used after multiplication and looks like this...+...and he already knows it
S=subrat-used after addition and looks like this...-...and he already knows it.
HOW TO USE BEDMAS:
Let's use this equation and solve it
2x(4÷8)-2+10²=¿

are there any brackets?...yes ...so lets solve it...
(4÷8)
=(2)<---now take away the brackets because it is positive
now it looks like this
2x2-2+10²=¿
are there any equations?...yes so lets solve it...
10²
=10x10
=100
now it looks like this
2x2-2+100=¿
are there any divisions?...No...so lets move on
are there any multiplications?...yes...lets solve it
2x2
=4
now it looks like this
4-2+100=¿
are there any additions?...yes...so lets solve it
2+100
=102
now it looks like this
4-102=¿
now i want you to solve it what is 4-102?¿?¿?

Good Luck!

Ok.. First off Don't Worry if you happen to dont appreciate stuff like Trig or Calculus. You will by no means use those in lifestyles. But the complete factor of it's to instruct your brain for extra difficult and tricky disorders you may also Face. So it's primary. Understanding is a sucess any approach. It will take attempt. You need to keep in and research. Dont ever count on that you are going to be equipped to do matters untill you will have studied. In some way it's genetic. But that's a small percentenge. But the ones men are in a certain magnificence. (s.ed). All you need to do is inform your self that you'll do it. And the mathematics booklet not often is helping. Try discovering a instructor/

Definitely, go into fractions, which follows division anyway, since fractions actually ARE division.

Best is to borrow a few maths books from the school library and go in a graded manner.
