Look in the yellow pages and check out the General Contractors and Carpenters in your area. Make sure they are licensed, insured and bonded.

When you have found at least 6, do a google and/or yahoo search on each of them checking for fraud, complaints and how they were handled, ownership (make sure limited, corporations, partnerships are still valid - charters have not been cancelled.

Get at least 3 detailed writtened quotes with terms, extras (work that is not covered under the contract; and how, and how much you would be charged), guarantees.

Do not put down large amounts of money prior to the start of the job. Most legitimate contractors ask 10% up to 30%. Try to bargain them down to 10% to 15 % which is the norm.

Do some research on local building codes, permits, etc and make sure these are applied for and completed when the work is done.

Good Luck.

Usually, you would contact a handyman or contractor. However, in this case, if you have a roofer coming over anyway, they might be willing to do this additional work for you. Won't hurt to ask :)

Good Luck

Genral Contractor or Carpenter. Makes sure they are both licensed and bonded to avoid legal problems if they do a lousy job or use parts and don't pay for them leaving a lean against your house by the parts supplier.

Get in touch with a Carpenter or a Handyman from your Yellow Pages.
