Yes women can run, and a few women have, starting with Victoria Woodhull in the late eighteenth century. Belva Ann Lockwood, Margaret Chase Smith, Shirley Chisholm, Patsy Mink, Pat Schroeder, and Elizabeth Dole.

ANY United States citizen, meeting the requirements can file for an application to run for president. Women have been included since we were given the right to vote.

If you are asking whether the Constitution allows a woman to be president, the answer is yes.

Gender is only mentioned twice in the Constitution. In the 14th Amendment prohibiting states from denying the vote to any males, and in the 19th Amendment eliminating gender distinctions in voting.

Other than that, the Constitution says nothing about gender.

A number of women have campaigned for president including elizabeth dole, shirley chisolm, carol mosley braun, lenora fulani, and of course, hillary clinton.

Geraldine Ferraro was chosen as a vice presidential running mate.

We will have a woman president eventually as well as a hispanic president and a black president.
