As I tell my children. After I tell them no I am perfectly willing to talk about why and they have the opportunity to convince me otherwise. However, simply asking over and over again without any additional supporting argument not only hurts their cause, they are at risk of generally putting mom and/or dad in a less then cheerful mood.

If the answer is no, then there is no compromise on the issue as it stands where the no vote was issued.
If the issues were discussed, and a new plan reveled, then the no vote stood firm, but a new vote on new items could produce a different result.

My niece and nephew have learned that by being really annoying and repeating a request, their parents will eventually give in.
When they are here, I have told them that if they keep repeating a request, I will *NOT* do it. That is, their continued annoying behavior is reason enough to not do something.
Its amazingly effective. Their parents don't understand why they are so much better behaved around us than when they are not.
However, they are both under 10...

Depends on what it is. If it is about sex I would say A LOT!!!! I usualy make guys want me a lot before I give in!
