I'm comparing two laptops (the Toshiba Satellite 15.4" Widescreen Notebook PC (A215-S4807)@$780 and the Toshiba Satellite 15.4" Widescreen Notebook PC (A215-S4697)@$600). They differ in price by about $180. I can put in another Gig of RAM into the first one for $50. The second one is .20Ghz faster and has a webcam. Which one should I get?

I would be primarily using iTunes, word processor, and the internet at the same time, but the Vista and 1 GB RAM REALLY slow down the cheaper model. I wonder if the more high end one would perform noticebly better?

with 1 gig of RAM, vista occupies half of the computer's RAM, so I think another gig is a reasonable investment

Clockspeed in CPU nowadays is not important since CPU performance depends on other things. You won't even see any difference in performance between these 2 cpus on your laptop.Unless you need the webcam i would go with the cheaper one since you can add more RAM to it for about $50, right?. More RAM will always be the cheaper and better way to upgrade your pc performance, especially with Vista.

no longer likely, maximum workstation speeds are 2.0+GHz. I pronounced no longer likely because of the fact even at a million.60 GHz it could shelter undemanding stuff like cyber web surfing and writing comments. no longer in simple terms that, yet that cpu is a unmarried-center cpu. twin-center are the norm now, so a a million.60 GHz unmarried-center cpu in comparison to the workstation processors obtainable in the present day could be incredibly gradual then. you will possibly get plenty greater velocity in case you regarded for a workstation with an Intel center i3 processor or an AMD P320 processor. they're decrease priced too, around $500 in case you go searching.

Drop vista, you dont want it. It looks nice, but in the long run you will be annoyed by all the little popups reassuring that this is what you want, and is this allowed and bs like that. Anyways .20ghz faster you wont notice a difference. Ghz means nothing anymore. 1gb of ram is plenty for vista anyways.

It's tough to answer this question without knowing what you intend to use the computer for.

If you are using it for things like video editing and programming, then you would benefit more from the faster processor.

If you are using it just for music, movies and internet, then you would not see much of a difference between the two processors.

I would personally recoomend u the later one which costs u 600$
for ur usage that u have mentioned the .20Ghz speed wouldn't reall be noticed
if u are going in for heavy usage then u should really bother about ghz like if u go in for 3Ghz sppeds would vary heavily but not in .20Ghz u can't notice them for ur usage
like Itunes, browsing , word or office editingand things on like that
seconldy reagrding webcam if u really in need of it go in for that or else u can buy a separate webcam
my personal opinion is since i dont use a webcam i would be happy with one laptop that doesnt have a webcam itself
