changed the gas rebuilt carb new plugs when trying to idle it stalls and need the choke to start.it is a 4 hp johnstone. runs fine at high speeds also changed fuel lines and filter any help would be appreciated....ty

hi its the fuel pump... on the side small little thing.. firstly take it off and clean the small wire screen in it. Then try again..... It works a at high speed becasue the engine provides high enough vacuum to work it,. but becasue of blackage or its failing at low speed its harder for the gas to get through..
I replaced one on a Johnson.. tok 10 mins max motor runs like a dream...

checked the points/condensers? checked the fuel pump? might be the low speed side of the carb. is still a little clogged.

Your low speed jet is plugged clean it again with crab spray with the screw out make sure the spray come out the throttle plate.
