Death is one of the conditions for the possibility of a finite existence. Remove the conditions, and we simply do not exist. What is worse-- to live and to die or to not exist at all? As far as the reasons that God might have for the world as it is-- speculation about such things requires some sort of particular revelation from the diety, (about which there seems to be many) as rational inferences prove for the most part ambiguous in this regard.

We have the questionable gift of knowing that we all will die eventually. If we did not have that knowledge, perhaps no one would be asking that question. But, the truth is that all living things die. It is the circle of the balance of nature. Without death, there can be no life. Very good philosophical question. It is not G-d's fault that people die every day, it is because we live, and of what we do to the earth, the environment, ourselves and each other that deaths are untimely and tragic.

Dear Red Rose,
God created man for life. But in the sin of Adam all men died. "If you eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you will surely die". We die because sin separates us from God. But God has made a way for us to be at one with him again. He became a man, Jesus of Nazareth, and took the sin of the world on himself on the cross at Calvary. He paid the price of the sin of man so that we could be at one with God again and have eternal life.

We still die because the history is still playing out--God is giving man time to turn from his sin and to God. There will come a day when Jesus, the Christ of God, will return as the conquering King and then there will be no more death.

Animals, plants, humans, planets, stars, galaxies, the universe...all have births, lives, and deaths. This is simply the way that existence, as we know it, works. Acknowledging this process helps us make the most out of the finite time we have here. Carpe Diem!

Can you imagine what would happen if a few thousand people didn't die each day? We'd be up to a population of about 100 billion or so.
