Depending on your gender and the courts, if you are a male you can anticipate losing everything and more, if you are female you can anticipate losing nothing but the circumstances for each is different and unique. The gender bias in the divorce courts is the constant that might help in determining the loss for either side. The first statement reflects the current status for the courts of family union and divorce and are one sided by the gender bias towards men.

Lose as in what exactly? I don't look at getting married at losing anything. In a marriage, you have to honest and communicate and be willing to compromise. Both people have to give 100%, not 50/50. If you are only giving 50% of yourself, that is not giving it your all. You have to be willing to give it all you have and have the mindset that you want this marriage. Not losing anything. It is good to be friends for a long while before deciding on marriage.

well financially you could "loose" half of everything accumulated during the relationship.

By why focus on that?

You'll accumulate- precious children that will fill the world with happiness and joy. You'll get a soul mate that will be there for you always, you'll get memories/moments that are so precious that money would seem meaningless.
Marriage is better then being alone.

I don't think am going to lose much, cause we've already agreed about everything. However, I'd give anything to make my marriage work. I just love her too much, I can't think of losing her..

When you get married you lose the right to think only of yourself.

Other than that......you should gain.

It all depends on your perception of marriage.

If you think you're going to lose, you probably start counting the losses e.g. lose of personal time and space, lose of privacy, lose of freedom.

If you think you're going to win, you probably start accumulating your wins e.g. combining your wealth, enjoyment of companion, sharing of joy, fun of doing things together, someone that love and care about you.

Think positive, feel good, and your marriage will probably be at the path of winning.

Never worry about loving too much...you probably won't lose much when you really love and care.
