However old you will be when your body is ready to menstruate. There is no certain age. The average age a girl gets her period in the U.S. is 12 and a half, with African American girls typically getting their periods a bit earlier and Caucasian girls getting theirs a bit later.

There is no set age to getting it. When your body is ready it will start on its own. I know that this will mean that in some ways you are a woman, however enjoy not having it while you can. It may be all the other girls can talk about right now, but it really is a bit more anoying than anything else and you will have it for years and years once you get it. Good luck hun.

Hey girlie :) There is no set age, only when your body is ready to be a woman will you get it. It is different for every body so if your friends already have theirs, don't worry you are normal. All you can do is wait. If you want to make sure you do get it when you are supposed to there are a few things you can do! Make sure you get enough sleep ( 6 to 9 hrs a night). Take ONE chewable multivitamin (like flinstones, I take these and I am 29!) a day this makes sure your body has what it needs to be a woman. Make sure you have 3 meals a day and healthy snacks too. Drink water, milk, real juices. Just take care of your body and be normal healthy and it will come. Good luck.

You dont have to be a certain age, it will just happen. And when it does you will have it for the rest of your life until' you are like in your 50's. But trust me you don't want it because you will get cramps and you will bloat and if you like swimming you can't swim even with a pad on.

My mother started her period at age 11 and I've met other women that started their periods at age 9. Your period could come at any time.

I'm almost 14 and still haven't started, it's most likely to start after you go through a bit of puberty and if it still doesn't just wait for it! It's a mess anyways, I wouldn't want to deal with it, I hope I get mine when I am 16!
