1. One paradise gourami, 4 corydoras, 4 platies
2. One dwarf gourami, 4 corydoras, 5 blac k skirt tetras
3. Five tiger barbs, 4 corydoras
4. One betta, 5 corydoras
5. Three platies, 3 corydoras, 3 tiger barbs

The tank is moderately planted with a piece of driftwood. It has great filteration.

Also if you think tiger barbs are compatable with pretty much no other fish I've seen aquariums with a small school of them and other fish in it...

Like Sir Ghapy said, I dislike mixing tigers with anything because of thier nippiness. Great ground cleaners though I give them that. Had a group of four of them one time, left very little on the bottom, but probably better off just in thier own school alone. I like 4 because a Male Betta would be a good centerpeice with lots of flowing color on the fins, and really thrive well in 10 gallons. Shouldn't have any issues with Cories at all either. 2 isn't bad cept like Ghapy said, probably going to have problems down the road on size with the tetras, but you could change that out with something else. Maybe once the cycle gets done, a school of about 6 neons would look nice. Dwarves can sometimes be a little fiesty, I've had four of them in the past, but from what I've seen, just towards the other Gourami was all. Small chance they might pick on the neons, so you'd just have to watch for that. White clouds would be another possibility but maybe in a small number. I personally like some of the colors on glo zebras, but as I learned on here, they move around much faster and might stress the Gourami. Might have some options on mollies and guppies, only you'd probably have a population increase at some point, with enough plants and the driftwood, I'm sure some fry would survive.

Tiger Barbs are definitely compatible with other fish, but in a 10 gallon tank, 5 Tiger Barbs (which are very active and nippy fish) are going to be really cramped. Tigers each get about 3 inches long, and when kept in small tanks (like a 10 gallon), they can get stressed and lash out at other fish. The most attractive and most balanced option is number 2. The Dwarf Gourami will have a nice contrast to the Tetras and Cories. Good luck!

Jon and Ghappy: About the Black Skirts, they do get a little on the large side for schooling fish, but they are fairly slow moving and are not going to get very stressed. If it was something like a 2 inch Tiger Barb, I wouldn't even consider it because of their activity levels.

I would recommend anything without the tiger barbs, they are very feisty and can grow larger then many people realize - not the best choice for a 10 gallon tank.

I like number 4 best too (perhaps because it's similar to my 15 gallon) and if you go with 3 or 4 cory's you have room to add somthing like a small group of neon or cardinal tetra's.

Piranhas of each sort advance too super for a 10 gallon. Oscars get 15" long. Peacock eels get some foot long, so i does not advise that. because of the fact the 1st guy pronounced, no piscavores slot in a 10 gallon, different than for according to risk the African leaf fish. The small one, no longer the leopard ctenopoma. situation is, those are somewhat no longer elementary to locate, and ought to eat approximately their very own weight daily. fairly no longer for novices.

Tiger barbs are pretty much compatible with themselves and maybe the green ones too. Whichever ones are in the tank with them at the petstore. I like setup 2 because I have Black Skirted Tetras and adore them they are so cute and have little personalities everytime i come in the room *swoosh* they are flapping thier tails hard to get to the glass and beg for food!
By the way you really need more than 10 gallons for five black skirts try upgrading to a 20-29 gallon you have more room for them. They get up to 2" maximum at adult age and thats your whole tank taken up already!! :[

#2 you've got color with dwarfs blk wht with e skirts and crys come in lotsa colors.
and yes tigers can be with other fish but they are still aggressive and this can make others in the tank aggressive if they are not killed. by the way why just 10 gallons?
