My sister lives in Holland on the border near Belgium. She says on her health insurance plan it will let you join a gym for preventive care. I've never heard of this.

Awww that was really a sweet thing to say. I try to be nice to others. I do get my feeling hurt easily though. I think when you are nice to others, they will be nice to you

The socialist systems of countries like The Netherlands and Belgium support a lot of things that U.S. Health Care could never even consider. While not all kinds of insurance plans would do this, it is not unheard of.

Insurance companies here are supported by the governments and a lot of tax money is diverted in their direction. The same basic care is available to everyone and only certain luxuries such as private rooms during hospitalisation are determined by the type of policy you have.

Your sister might have exaggerated the point a bit as I doubt a standard membership is covered in the health plan although it might be tax-deductable. However, the concept is not crazy and very likely in The Netherlands (Holland) as long as it is based on doctors' instructions.
