ok tomorrow starts mini camp for my school and well mostly all the "popular" boys play football and well this year i dont feel like playing, last year i played but i managed to stick it out. To be honest the only reason i ever played football was because my best friend plays it and well if i dont play thois year lots of my freidns will disrespect me and call me "quitter", "loser", and they wont even want to talk to me and it really pisses me off that they would act that way. Also they football coaches are teachers in my school and im realy cool with one of them and if i quit im scarred they will look at me weird and have less respect for me and i really dont want to feel uncomfortable at school, and if i have them as a teacher it would really make me uncomfortable. IF i play it would really feel like more of a chore than sumthing i do for fun and again the only reason im doing this is because my best friend does it. Im really scared and indesicive about what i should do this could...

I wish that there was an easy answer to your problem but it doesn't look like there is. I personally didn't play football in high school. I was in the marching band. I loved being in the marching band but I also at times regret not playing football. I think the thought process you should use to decides is not how it feels right now but how it might feel in a year or 5 years. Will you regret not playing?
I would always recommend that you do what's best for you. School is the most important thing. Graduating and getting that diploma is why you're there. If you are worried that your friends will treat you differently because you didn't play football then I guess they aren't very good friends. If you truly don't like it they should understand.
I just hope you are not quitting because it's too hard. If it was easy it wouldn't be worth doing. And it wouldn't be rewarding. The choice is yours.

Do you even like football? LOL. The way I see it, being popular and having chicks like you for your status is not the reason to go to school. You attend high school in the hopes of it preparing you for the real world -- college and having a career. I think that you don't have necessarily quit the team. You should speak to someone, like a counselor, parent, or a good friend, on ways to better your personality and identity. You can then practice time management techniques to help fit in time for studying, football, and friends. I am sure there is a teacher out there willing to help you. Even the ones you have been rude to ( make sure to apologize to them! =] ). I have just graduated high school and started Summer classes at my college and have been awarded 2 scholarships. All the cool guys in the Soccer and Football team got the fake diplomas basically saying 'thanks for coming to our school' and by the looks of their MySpace photos get pretty much wasted every night. So it really is up to you which path you want to take. But by the looks of it, it seems you are analyzing yourself and you know there is something wrong. That's the first step to improvement! =D Good luck! =)

First of all, calm down. Don't rant in questions as it can get really annoying. Secondly, you should only play football if you want to. Playing just because your friend is on the team is very stupid and a bit pathetic. I can understand about how you look to your friends, but if they're true friends and not just buddies, they'll understand. And even if they don't, it's not like any criticism or condemning lasts forever. People get over stuff. Besides, it's not like you were the team superstar and you're letting everybody down by retiring. And for the record, football is one sport where a player must actually want to play and win, not one to be popular or look cool to their friends. Joining a sport is not a chore, duty, or obligation. It is for the love of the game and for those with true desire. If you don't want to play football, don't.

In my opinion if you do not enjoy playing football, you shouldn't. I understand the fear that your friends may have a problem with you quitting but most of them should be reasonable about it if you are. If you were to run around talking about how much you hate and how it's stupid or some such thing, they would probably be annoyed. But if you tell them 'look, there's nothing wrong with football and it's cool that you have something you like so much, but it just isn't my thing' I would expect most of them to be understanding. And honestly, if they aren't understanding then they aren't the type of people you should be too upset about not being great friends with.

Let me offer you some advice...It doesn't matter what others think... If you like something you should stick to something you love... More athletes have a better chance of going to the big leagues in baseball than football.. Besides, you earn more money beacause baseball is the highest paid sport...plus you don't have to worry about your body suffering with all those wear and tears and getting run-down of all contact... If like baseball go with baseball

well if you quit your going to lose lots of friends even your best friend. i know this cause lots of my good friends quit and didn't make the team. in my junior year i didn't really see them much cause i was a jock and they were nobodys. i think you should stick it out and try your hardest. being in football keeps you out of trouble and you'll get privileges for teachers and other people. but if you r going to quit just talk to the head coach and be honest and tell him its not something you wanna do cause you don't wanna do it. and if you stay in you wont be giving it 100% which will hurt the team. good luck

You are playing for all the wrong reasons. You are only a real quitter if you quit because the going gets tough and you bail out. If you truly don't like the sport, don't worry about others....quit.

You shouldn't play if you don't enjoy it.....however you will definatetly regret it when you get older and start thinking about all your high school memories. So why don't you pop in Varsity Blues or Friday Night Lights and really think about it.
