Your lip color really depends on the look that YOU want and also on the texture, that is, the way it feels on your lips. Also consider what and how much you will be eating, drinking, and kissing. As for the color, I suggest red. I often wear Certainly Red by Revlon. Be sure to line your lips first, then apply lipstick. I always prefer to match my lips, fingernails, and toenails, so I use their signature nail color Revlon Red. There are lots of similar colors out there, but the texture of one brand of lipstick, lipgloss, or other lip product (without a common name) may vary considerably. I have long since discovered that some types of lipgloss can dissolve lipstick after a half hour and make it bleed into my facial lines. It is OK to pile on the lipgloss over lipstick for a quick photo session, but experiment at home first to see what will stand up to your habits. I have light skin as well; red does not overpower it.
Another product that I have tried is called Lip Ink. It is a liquid that comes in a vial, and it is applied with a sponge-tip wand. You apply 3 coats, let it dry, and then put on their liquid lipgloss. It is supposed to be swear-proof (yes), drink-proof (yes), dinner-proof (partially), and kiss-proof (ooops, not the way I kiss, but it would probably stand up to casual greeting type kisses). I have used Lip Ink in Red. It is expensive and feels OK for a while, but it eventually flakes off rather than evaporates or oozes off. For me, it is a worthwhile experiment, and I may try other Lip Ink colors, but I prefer the FEEL of traditional lipstick.
Red is more than a night color. The color red does carry an erotic message that is desirable in a nightclub, party, or bedroom setting, but red is also the color of authority and tradition. As a color of authority, red is perfect for business regardless of whether you are buyer, seller, worker, or boss, and it is appropriate for the courtroom and classroom. As a color of tradition, red is also suitable for church, the fine arts, high society, family gatherings, and it never truly goes out of style. Wear red with confidence day or night to all venues worthy of your presence, and all eyes will be on you.
Also consider repairs. Besides retouching lip liner and lipstick, my makeup around my mouth is often destroyed by some oily foods or messy kissing. At home, I first use liquid foundation and loose powder, but for touch-ups, I carry a compact with a semi-solid foundation applied with a sponge and a pressed powder compact applied with a powder brush. Then I redo my lips. It takes time, but I have a public image to uphold, and all my lovers like my red lips.

If you can do one color for each day of the week these would be good: Monday: Orange Tuesday: Red Wednesday: Black Thursday: Green Friday: Deep Purple :) Or if only one color, I'd say Orange or Dark Blue. Congrats on winning the bet.
