My laptop is of TOSHIBA with starter version of Windows XP

Hmmm . . . you've probably got some viruses or something. Install avast! antivirus and give your computer a thorough scan. avast! is free for home users, by the way. Just give them your email and they'll send you a registration code. Good luck!

You probably have overloaded it with too many applications.
Keep in mind that each space you use to store your favorites
and personal photos, games, soft wares, etc., requires memories. And the more memories you tie up (use) the slower the performance of your laptop or PC. You might want to try deleting some of the programs which you no longer use or take your laptop to a qualified dealer to have some extra memories added to it. This usually costs around 70 bucks.

Check to see what is running in your startup. You can go to Start--Run--MsConfig and then look at the Startup tab to see what you need and do not need. If your running Norton Antivirus I have always noticied that it slows your machine greatly. If non of these are your issue then perhaps you have issues with pop-up spyware or something like that. The only other thing could be a lack of enough RAM memory on the machine for what your using it for.
