I think we need term limits at all levels of the federal government. Periodic turnover would benefit the country by allowing for fresh ideas and viewpoints. Politics is corrupt by it's very nature and even well meaning people tend to be corrupted by the system the longer they stay. I have never understood why so many people favor term limits for the President, but resist it for other elected officials.

Yes and no. I definitely think there should be, however when is enough time and how can we afford to pay for it? The benefit packages these so called representative of the people receive after "retirement" is well...dang good. Talk about a drain on our taxes, heck even the crooked ones we send to jail are still getting it. Almost want them to stay at the capital pretending to work instead of sitting back in their million dollar mansions still getting our money.

How about going back to the framers intention that senators are appointed by the states not elected. This should get rid of a lot of pandering.

I think it's an excellent idea , term limits of about four years (they can do enough damage in that time) and no ability to draw any kind of pension or other benefits till they are70 , further any conviction for any crime means no benefits at all, .What say you ?

the thing about term limits is that the first candidates to run on a platform of term limits have been in office for 30 years now. heck more than thirty years.

I vehemently oppose term limits. This nation was built on free politics. If the population wants to elect the same person for 30 years, it is the will of the people that puts that person there. Same thing if they do not want them there. They will be elected out of office.

They do have term limits thats why we vote. Mr. Kennedy and Mr. Byrd are sent back to congress on your right to vote. I will fight anyone wanting to change my right to vote for whom ever i choose to vote fore. Have you forgotten the oldest man in congress was republican until last year. Also there was jesse helms a sick old republican racist to the core. Mr. thurman was a out and out racist that had a Mixed child he hid for years until he died. If you want term limits just dont always talk about democrats you have alot of republicans heading for the old folks home.
