x²- 6x -16=0

(x - 8)(x + 2) = 0

x = 8, x = -2

6x² + 42x = 0

x(6x + 42) = 0

x = -7, x = 0.

a.) x^2-6x-16=0

1st Step- Factors of 16 that add up to -6 (2,-8)

(x+2)(x+8)=0

Take opposite - - Final Answer (x= -2) (x= 8)

b.) 6x^2+42x=0

(You can factor out a 6x from this equation)

6x(x+7)=0

Subtract 7 from both sides

Final answer- (x= -7) (x= 0)
