Kudo's for Sir Ghapy on that one. I've had one 5 inch Gold Tin Foil Barb, but he was in a 75 gallon set up. They are what I call hyper fish, grow to be very big too. It might have been hyper because he was a loner and I suspect they like to be schooled. But this fish would eat up just about anything and everything you put in. I'm pretty sure it's not an insect eater by nature when observing him, but this fish even went after crickets because the Oscars and Arowana's were.
Definetly like the man said, need a bigger set up, and I think the hyper activity of that species, even though they probably wouldn't attack the Gourami, would stress them.

Tinfoil Barbs each get more than a foot long. For that tank, you would need about 100 gallons. Give away all the Barbs before they are permanently stunted, then you can start over and do some research befor buying tank busting fish.

Tinfoils are huge fish, growing to over a foot long, and growing quite fast. They are entirely inappropriate for the size of your tank and you should find a new home for them or they'll stunt and die from the stress.
Always research fish before buying them, and make sure you only get fish suitable to your tank.
In general, the activity of many barbs can be stressful to the calmer and more territorial Gourami.

They can get along with enough space as long as their size is compareable when you first introduce them. However, I have seen the barbs tear apart gouramis and run them to death. if your barbs have already established their territory in this tank it may be a problem plants or not. Sometimes the barbs will hunt them out.

Well, Gouramies and Tin-foil Barbs would get along. As long as the Tin-foil barbs have big mouths that would eat your gourami.

Here is a webpage I found and at the bottem with the community fish links *above that says larger gouramis*. But you could have a look at those community links and see if the fish you like or others are in there: http://elmersaquarium.com/10barb_tinfoil.htm
hope it works out! :]
