I don't think people realy understand what that means when they say "all". The Klu Klux Klan and Neo-Nazis for example, are a culture and beleif and I don't think they should be tolerated. Now all i am doing is not tolerating someone because they are not tollerant, which is hypocritical. So then i am now faced with a dilema, what cultures and beleifs should not be tolerated and by what form of judgment/laws do i base this on.

This is why "tolerance" is a meaningless goal in and of itself.

Well it depends on what you mean by "tolerant" and what you would plan to do about it. For example, if someone from the KKK is out calling for the death of Jews, etc. then you are well within your right to call them a bigot and speak against them. However, you can't physically stop them from saying what they are. Is that being tolerant, or not? In my opinion, we have to tolerate all beliefs and ideas, but we should not tolerate how people act on those beliefs and ideas. I'm not talking about limiting freedom of speech or anything of that sort, either, if that's what you are thinking.

This is a tricky one...as you know it's up to every indivisual to decide what they "tolerate", but personally I try and tolerate everybody's views. Of course I don't agree 100% with the KKK, Nazis, and even some religions...but I try and hear their views before agreeing or disagreeing. I find that when your faced with people that have differnt views than yours...and that are obviously wrong (ie. killing people because of thei ethnicities) there's no changing them...they truely believe they are right. So just try to make things better by going out of your way tp stand up for what you believe in...and do the right things.

I don't think this is very important. I say we should tolerate anything (any person, what they do, what they wear, eat or drink), as long as they don't hurt us or others in a way. which is kinda your perspective, only more generalized.

I personally don't care much about what others choose for their life, i don't label things as good or bad (all things are good AND bad), and I'm just not focusing much energy on things like that.

sure I have an opinion about everything, but that's just my opinion. I think people are free to choose their own ideas and ideologies.

There are a lot of pretty bad cultures out there, but yes, I guess we should tolerate them all. We don't have to support them however.

even idiots should be tolerated. in my opinion, ALL cultures should be tolerated, not liked. in a free society, people are free to be jerks, but it beats the alternative

Tolerate if they are harmless. If they begin to get into other people's way, that's another story.

i think you can make a sound judgement on what you should or should not do/....if you feel that tolerating a group of people that go out of their way to harm, kill, degrade other groups of human beings is ok then go for it.

I'm for letting individuals believe as they want. If it happens to counter my beliefs, I'm ok with it as long as they don't try to force theirs as being correct over mine. I would try to learn something new from it to expand my own experiences. But I don't beleive in pressing on someone else.

I don't believe in peddling religion door to door. I believe religion is a personal thing for each of us and we should handle it accordingly.

We shouldnt tolerate violence, dominance, preaching or muslims. If we want sex, have it. If we want alcohol or cigarettes, enjoy it. Everything we have, we have to enjoy. Why should we deprive ourselves of all we have to enjoy? You only live once. You are here for a good time, not a long time.
