For me, I prefer the United States, as it would be too far to commute to work if I lived in Europe.

I lived in both and it totally depends.

Do you need nature ?
Do you like cities ?
Do you need sun ?
Do you need a place for a high tech job ?
Do you need to make savings in dollars or euros ?
Do you want to be involved in the political system ?

The US and Europe are both so large and so diverse that you can only compare individual places.

I personally like Southern Germany for the high tech jobs and would be attracted to California for the same reason.
No interest in some parts of the US or Southern Europe, except for visiting.

REgarding politics:
I like the European Union and don´t like the US federal government

I do not like national European countries but I like a lot of US states.

I prefer the U S of A I'd rather be living in a country that others like to criticize I know the reason for it!

Europe doesn't have Bush. That's a plus. Though Europe is victim to his wrath.
