Yes. Its an annoying reference. i constantly hear this on Monday mornings. Its such a turn off for what reason i do not know or care to understand. My friends and I is and should always be the norm. Just because you and your women Friends hang out all the time should not reference to a girlfriend. Unless you are in a woman's' relationship. Just my opinion people.

What is annoying about it is when someone is speaking clearly then slips into ebonics and goes 'guuurrrlfrennnnn'. If you are going to call her girl friend at least say it correctly in the same tone of voice you were just speaking in.

What I find annoying is when they call and leave a message and only say: "hey it's me, give me a call". When my wife gets home, I tell her that "me" called three times.

No actually, I don't. I call my girl friends my girls, ladies, girl friends, or whatever. They are just girls who are your friends and therefore are your girlfriends. However...if you have a guy friend you wouldn't call him a boyfriend unless you were dating...it's strange, I know...but call them whatever floats your boat, as long as you aren't being mean.

I see what you're saying, and I rarely use the term. I say, "Friend," or "Good friend"

When you have male friends, you don't introduce them as "boy friends", though they are sometimes "guy friends" depending on the conversation.
