Barry Bonds is quickly approaching Hank Aaron's record of 755 career home runs and will probably break it very soon. Steroids controversy as well as other legal woes have raised a lot of suspicion about Bonds. Many people believe the only reason he came back to the Giants and MLB at all this year was to break Hank Aaron's record, which he failed to do last season. Once that is done, do you think Bonds will still look to play for another season?

Unless he's indicted, I believe he will

I think that we can all assume that Bonds will break the home run record. He has said that he would like to play for the 2008 season if he is healthy. Now, that is a big if, because he already takes the most days off due to rest in the MLB. He said he would like to get 3000 hits. Personally, I think he will be on an American League team as a DH.

Barry turns 43 this week. He is 2 HRs away from tying and 3 from breaking the record. He will do it this week in SF in front of his fans. I don't think he will play next year. If he does, it will be because he is paid an obscene amount of money to be a DH for an AL team. He hates the media and is tired of the controversy. He won't play unless the contract is for $1 million.

Unless legal issues prevent him, I think he will play in 2008, and it won't be with the Giants.

Bonds is tantalizingly close to 3000 hits and the runs scored record (Henderson, 2295). I think he wants the first and may pick up the second along the way. He also, really, does want a championship ring, and if he retires he has NO chance at one, which is worse than playing on and having a great, good, or even tiny chance.

Besides, Bonds will look good DHing in pinstripes. Bwa ha ha.

If, for some strange reason, Barry doesn't break the record this year, everybody except for the people of San Francisco will want him out of the sport for good.

I personally do not want him to but I bet he is very eager to catch up to Hank Aarons homerun record so he will probably keep playing until he catchs up to Hank Aaron.

Does it even matter if he breaks the record! Alex Rodriguez will break it it in less years than it took Bonds. as for the original question no he is too old to play

He will definitely play. Fame is too hard for many people to throw away. I think the only reason the Giants have him is because of the homerun record. (Think of all the revenue he draws in with ticket sales, memorabilia, television contracts...) I think next year he will be playing...but not for the Giants because all of that extra revenue will be gone and they will still have a fat contract to pay to keep him there. They have too many old players on their roster and they will be looking to rebuild in the coming years.

No Bonds is done after he breaks the record. But if he doesn't...... expect him to be in Giants uniform in 2008.

Barry Bonds will play next year if he wants to reach 3,000 hits doesn't look like he will reach with 2 months remaining.

i think of he will play via the top of the season, some AL team will finally end up desiring a DH interior the line up and %. him up, I additionally think of Bonds will sign for much less funds than he desires to through contemporary loss of activity.
