I picked one already that was orangish in color and it was really good with olive oil! Some others were on the ground so I picked those so they wouldn't get bugs. But they are green. Will they ripen in my kitchen by themselves?

Yes,put them in a sunny window wher it's not too hot stem side down however they are much better if ripened on the vine. Next year mulch heavily and cover the mulch with old carpet, towels, or anything else that is porous.

Put them in a bag with a ripe apple ( seriously! ) the etyhylene gas emitted by the apple helps to ripen the tomatoes.

Probably if they are in the sun, but, then you lose the goodness of the flavor.
My favorite tomato is green and fried!

Yes they will...nearly every tomatoe you buy in the store was picked and shipped while quite green.

Oh you are so lucky.....god yes...pick those delicious tomatoes....put them in a sunny window...befor the birds or bugs get them....as soon as the tomatoes get as big as you want then go pick them...green...they will ripen.in a window...

no, make fried green tomatoes or green tomatoe relish green tomatoe salsa is good too.
