I'm going on vacation tomorrow and we're going to be doing a lot of water parks. My only problem is that I have my period. I just started using tampons, and I was wondering if they were good in the water.

Also, whenever I put the tampon in it's a little uncomfortable. Is this how it's supposed to be, or are you not supposed to feel it at all?

If you can feel it, it's not high enough. Make sure you put it in all the way, as high as it can go. The base of the applicator where you hold with your fingers should be just outside your vagina when you push the plunger. Tampons are great for water parks, it's the only way you can go while on your period. Just change the tampon as often as you normally would to avoid any leaks in your bathing suits. You won't need to change it more often, water doesn't get absorbed into the tampon, only the string because it's outside your body.
Have fun.

Tampons are great for water parks because they are inside you! They wont get wet and there will be no blood in the water. You havnt inserted the tampon all the way. Do remember the end of the vagina goes towards the lower back not upwards. Really no worries and enjoy your holiday

Tampons were invented so that we could go in the water when we have our periods. They are great in the water!.
Tampons aren't supposed to hurt. You probably haven't put it in far enough. Take it out and try again.

you are not supposed to feel it at all. it probably isnt deep enough inside you.

they are ok for water parks, just make sure you bring some with you so you can change them often enough.

you may also want to look into the INSTEAD soft cup. you can leave them in for up to 12 hours (if your flow isnt too heavy) and you dont have to worry about if you are bleeding enough, like you do with tampons. you can buy them at any drugstore, and you dont have to be on your period to try them out and to practice insertion. they are disposable, and can not be used more than once. just throw them in the trash can (NOT in the toilet)

boys are stupid... no you will not "get used to it." it just means you havn't inserted it far enough... put in the applicator a little further next time... your fingers that are holding the bottom of the applicator should be touching your body when it is inserted all the way. And as far as tampons in water, well, thats why they are so great! Haha yea you'll be fine... have fun!

tampons are fine to use when swimming, ocean, water park wherever. you may be using a tampon that is for a heavier flow then what you are having, that will cause an uncomfortable feeling.

yes they are great for the water. that's like the most appropriate time to wear a tampon, even if you don't wear them normally. Usually when you can feel it that means you didn't put it far enough in.

Yes, they are perfetly safe inside water. You will be fine, just make sure to change it more often than when your not in water because it may absorb water, maybe every 4 hours. Also about the discomfort, it maybe because your not inserting it far enough, or you should switch to a more slender tampon... Like these... they work great...

they are alot more slender and smaller, also try to stick to tampons with plastic applicators, it slide much easier allowing it to go further inside.

If it feels uncomfortable when you first put it in, you are not putting it in far enough. You hold the tube by the rings, and it goes in that far. if it is inserted correctly, you can not feel it at all. Yes they are good in the water, but don't stay in too long, because they will get water soaked and then you may have some bloody leakage.
