Frequently.
First, there's the old adage "a lawyer who represents himself at trial has a fool for a client". Meaning that most lawyers are too personally involved in the situation to be objective and professional about matters that affect them personally.
But more than that -- law is often a specialized area. A lawyer who handles contract transactional work may have no experience in criminal defense or civil tort law. Or a criminal prosecutor may have no experience drafting a will or trust instrument.
So, yes, lawyers frequently go to other lawyers for assistance, advice, even representation.

A lawyer is more likely to consult with a lawyer regrading a legal problem than a non-lawyer would.
Because lawyers understand the value of objective expert legal advise. Often the area of concern is about a different area of practice and one can never be objective with ones own legal issues.

Yes, even the Clintons had lawyers during White Water and not to mention the 94 lawyers Bill fired when he was president.

Yes, we do. Lincoln said a lawyer who represents himself has a fool for a client. I did my immediate family's Wills and my own Will, but other than that, I have always used lawyers for my own legal affairs. What I do NOT do is choose a friend. I hire a lawyer for my own needs--like a recent real estate purchase--who's an expert in that field. I actually do a lot of real estate work, but I know I'm not objective about myself and I want someone who is going to tell me the truth and work for me, for pay, without consideration of friendship.

Most lawyers know enough to have people represent them, particularly if they are outside their speciality.

No, because then they would have to give away thier money to pay. Lawyers would rather die than give away their money.=)
