I took my son when he was 6 weeks old. He did great. I would recommend checking the stroller and carseat at the baggage check in and not the gate. it is a total nightmare getting through security. I have traveled alot with my now 6 month old son and I have found this is best. Its hard to carry him so I use a body carrier. He uses the baby bjorn carrier but there are alot of others that are less expensive. Make sure you get one without metal pieces so you don't have to take it off during the security. I did'nt check the stroller and carseat this last time because my husband was'nt traveling with us and I thought it would be easier. It was sooooooo horrible!!!!! I had to take the baby out of the carseat and hold him and try to fold the stroller up with one hand! They said they could'nt hold the baby and they could'nt figure out the stroller. They finally rolled the stroller through the handicap enterance. If they would have done that in the first place it would'nt have been so bad. I bought a cheap body carrier for the trip home and checked the stuff. I was'nt going through that again! I lost his bottle somehow and it was a long flight and he got MAD half way through the flight. Luckly I had his peas for him to eat. Make sure you have something for him to suck on at take off and landing and he should do well. Good luck!

I don't think it poses a health risk, but to me, this is what nightmares are made of.
I can't imagine being either a mom or a passenger on that plane.
I have heard that the change in air pressure can make the baby's ears hurt and it may be fussy. I'm just not sure I would be comfortable taking my baby on a plane that early. Is there no way you could drive instead?

I don't know of any. My cousin took her 4 week old son down to Mexico. Alot of other people I know have taken their children at that age. I just flew with my 10 mo. old.

Just make sure they are sucking on something taking off and landing, so their ears don't pop. And you can stick a little bit of cotton in their outer ear to help with this also.

OH - and also make sure you can do preboarding, so you can have first pick of seats, and sit in the very front, so in case the baby cries you aren't in the middle of a lot of people. It makes it less stressful that way.

The only hazard is that the baby's not vaccinated, so I wouldn't let everyone and their brother handle the baby, and I would be aware of any sick people around you. Airplane air is recirculated thru the flight, and if one person on the plane coughs or sneezes, there's a potential for your child to get sick from that.

can't see any reason why not, unless your baby has some sort of medical condition that requires a device not allowed on airplanes. but if that's not the case then be sure to pack 4 hours worth of diapers and milk and be on your merry way ;-)

no, the baby should be just fine. I mean you're allowed on a airplane pregant so taking the baby on the plane would be a okay!

yes. I just took my baby on the plane. He slept thru the whole ride. Don't panic if he is not sucking on anything going up in the air. If he has ear problems don't fly per doc.

I don't think it's a problem, they sleep a lot at this age and could sleep the entire light. Call the airline or go to their website and check if there is any info they can give you. You could also ask you doctor and get their insight.

If your doctor clears it, it's fine.

I WOULD recommend feeding (breast or bottle) during take-off and landing. The sucking motion allows the baby's ears to pop, which will relieve a lot of discomfort.

I took my 6 week old daughter on a airplain, and she was as quiet as a mouse. Just make sure she is sucking her bottle or dummy when the plain lands and take of, it can hurt their ears..........
