Asking/getting them to talk about it could cheer em up. If they don't want to talk about it you could suggest doing an activity you know they like. Take em out to lunch, dinner, a movie, shopping, whatever they will enjoy to help em get their mind off it. you could burn some of their fave songs on a cd,go paintballing, depends on your friends likes and whats available in your area.

Make them laugh. Laughter is the cure for alot of things. Let them know you're there for them as well. Nothing better than knowing you're not alone in this world.
