I liked the movie. It had a couple of good lines...like where she threatens to shove the pen into her "aorta" while holding it against her neck...hehe. Angelina Jolie was brilliantly psychotic in this movie. She does a heck of a job, and in my opinion, makes Winona look like a amateur.

This is a great movie. I love Winona Ryder, and Angelina Jolie. But, don't watch it unless you are in the mood for something serious and moderately depressing!
It's a very intense movie, with a good look at asylum life...with Whoopie Goldburg on the side.

I really like it. I thought it dealt well with the issue of adolesent depression and how mental illness in general was treated in the sixties. I thought it was interesting that they never really answer the question of whether the main charecter is in fact "crazy" or if she is just going through a tough time in life, that phase between high school and college that most of us have experienced, that stress of having to decide NOW what you are going to do with the rest of your life. But regardless of which it was Susanna realized that she did have a problem and did need help.

I loved that movie! The acting was near the best. They all had you feeling for their individual characters! Again, excellent!

i liked it...the acting was powerful. you must be in a certain mood, however. the storylines have many layers to peel off in order to get the gist of the actual plot - which is not a bad thing per se. i've seen it more than once and i would probably watch it again.

I liked it. Wasn't to bad. I found the main character sort of dull. And thought her very naive in signing herself in. When her boyfriend provided the opportunity for escape she was a fool not to take it. That part was unrealistic. In the real when a person is extremely unhappy and is offered the opportunity for escape they take it.

In my opinion, it questions the idea of madness/insanity. How mad should one be to be considered mad/insane? If you are mad but not violent and showing it, are you less mad? Are we all more or less mad? It made me think of the main idea in a Paulo Cohelio novel: There is no such thing as madness; there is difference and otherness. What we consider a mad man, it is in fact different than us, than our idea of the normal. I think the film is really worth seeing. If you ever felt strange/ misunderstood, you'll find yourself in the story.
