A lot of comments have been made by areas hit by floods, from caring to indifference.
Yahoo News has reported that London might be hit by a flood in the next 2 weeks. Do you think London can cope if it is hit by a major flood disaster and be immediate in its response?

Yes its got a great big bloody river for it all to go into....LOL nah course we are not - look at the rest of the country and where are the politicians? Worrying about their jobs and who will next be PM - David Cameron is in Africa telling Africans how to look after themselves - would be good if they could do that here first, wouldn't it?
Bunch of jokers......

That would amuse me as everything sits on the river down there and they have barriers in place, but for how much water....everything in moderation. Could the barrier hold off a tsunami? If not, chances of flooding could be quite high though probably not in the centre but further round.

This question sounds like the one that the people in New Orleans, Louisana were asking, just prior to being flooded
when their protective barriers broke!

I'm guessing YES.
They have the flood barrier and as it is the Capital, with major buildings, organisations & collections there will be plans all kinds of in place.

Technically London is not meant to get flooded due to the Themes barrier, and never has done since it was built. So I think London is highly unprepared for a flood.

where I live it would be ok.All along the North embankment is reclaimed land anyhow, which is supposed to be protected by the Thames barrier.I can't see it flooding but I think it would cope.

New Orleans thought they could handle Katrina. I hope London is spared that sort of ordeal.

Depends on the amount of water involved - coming down-river, up-river, and from above.
You're gonna get your real on-the-ground answer later on today, or so I've heard.
