Bullying is a problem at schools, and sometimes at home and at the workplace as well? Should something be done about this? Should it be treated as "a part of life" or should it be treated as assault for example?

I was bullied in school and in the Army. In school, once I grew bigger (small compared to kids today) and they found out how strong I was, they left me alone. Same in the Army; once they found out how strong I was, they left me alone.
When my youngest son was subjected to bullying at school, I complained, but his teachers said it was "part of life, part of growing up". He was a Down's Syndrome and could not talk; he was small and could not defend himself. Luckily, most kids were nice to him.
I think of it as being the worst problem in school. Like my son, many of them cannot stand up to the bullys, but as long as the school thinks it is "part of life", the only choice students and their parents have is to go to a different school.

I've been bullied at school, but I ignored most of it. I ended up being friends with most of my former bullies (not too many of them, but I still had 'em) later on. :) I think something should be done about it, but not all of it can be kept track of. Sometimes, schools tell parents that they'll watch for it, but half the time, it goes right on the next day. The best thing we can do is ask God for help and guidance and see where He takes it. :)

I was bullied in school. I think that treating it as assault is taking it too far, but teachers and staff members should be trained to recognize bullying and stop it. So much of the bullying I received was right under the teachers nose and they either didn't notice or didn't care to stop it.
oh and i should add that i have bullied myself at times too. i remember being unkind to one girl in particular.

its just part of growing up. i remember i was in 6 grade when some new girl came in..well the boys realy bullied her and i did sumtymz but neva beat her or anything, just dissed her and all dat. but later i felt stupid so i told them to stop coz i was 1 of the bigger boyz in the class. mostly the bullied person is always quiet. in school, mostly primary, the kids gotta be loud. if not youll get bullied, cant stop it.

I've done both. But I've received more of the former. Bullying shouldn't be tolerated. It's only the cowards that bully.
