My family and I are planning a trip to Disney in Florida in about a year or two from now. It will be about 12 of us. I have seen many promotions for packages that say it's like 1500 for 4 people for about a week. These packages include airlines and hotel. Does this mean we still have to purchase the park tickets separately or how do these packages work? Can any one who has purchased these give me a hint? Thanks!

Like it was stated before, Disney does offer a $1600 package for 2 Adults, 1 Junior and 1 Child for 6 nights/7 days at a Value Resort. This includes your entrances to the Disney Parks as well. However, it does not include Air Travel. Unfortunately, staying within Disney Property can be pretty expensive, specially if you are a big group.
Depending on your budget, if you are looking not to spend an arm and a leg, then consider staying off Disney Property. There are several hotels all very close to Disney, plus they all offer Free Transportation to the Disney Theme Parks too.

Well, you have the right idea. The packages Disney advertises is now $1600, it has gone up, for this year. That means by next year or the year after that the price is going to go up. It may just be a $100 dollar each year, or it could be more. For example, for next year Disney is supposed to start charging different prices for different nights, something they haven't done before, so weekend rates will be higher then weekdays, etc.

Now, the other part. The package they advertise is for for 6 nights, during value seasons, at one of the value resorts, and is the price for 2 adults, one junior and one child. It does include your park admission, which would be a 7 day base pass for this particular package. They also give an idea of the cost for higher resorts, $2000 for moderate and $2700 for the lower end deluxe resorts (Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom) You can change or add anything you want to the package, but it will change the price, so depending on what you do, it may go up or down.

The package they advertise does not include your airfare (for most people it saves a lot of money getting your air seperately) It also does not include your food. Right now they have a really great dining plan that saves a lot of money It costs $38.99 for adults (10 and up) and for kids it is $10.99 (3-9) Kids 2 and under are free. That is the cost per night, so for this package you would get 6 nights of dining.

One of the problems that will make your stay a little more expensive is the fact that you will need three rooms (unless you have several kids with you under 2) At a value resort you would need to get three rooms that hold 4. The All Star Music resort now has a family suite that can hold 6 people, plus one child under 2, that could be another option to help with cost as add a little more space. If you wanted to have more space, you could go up to a moderate resort, Port Orleans Riverside has rooms that will accomodate five, so if you have 2-2 year olds with you, you would only need two rooms. Another option is the Wilderness Cabins, they hold 6 people, have a kitchen, etc. You would only need two rooms and they are still rather inexpensive, so it may be a little higher than some other options, but it wouldn't be too bad and you get a lot of space and extras. Most other options are going to make the price quite a bit higher, so even though you wouldn't need as many rooms, the cost would be a lot higher. For example, Saratoga Springs has a 2br villa that holds 8 and a grand villa that would hold 12. To give you an idea of cost, the studio can range from $279 to $399 a night, the 1br villa $370 to $560, the 2br villa $515 to $850 and the grand villa $1135 to $1595 a night. So even though you could get by with fewer rooms the cost would be much higher.

I've included a link to Disney's website with the information on their affordable packages.

Hopefully this helps and my answer isn't too confusing... feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions!

You can do Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom in 1 day a piece, but Magic Kingdom takes 2. There is just so much to do. If you have younger kids, like under 8 you will want to skip a lot of Epcot because it is geared towards an older crowd. If you do that you can do Epcot and Animal Kingdom in 1 day and not miss anything. Animal Kingdom closes earliest of the 4 parks with Magic Kingdom staying open latest. For the best budget friendly hotels, stay off property, most resorts near Disney run about $50 or less online and about $80 in person. (per night) Don't forget to bring a jacket when you visit between now and March or April because it can get chilly. One thing you can do is on the Disney Website, they offer a planning tool that you can make a custom Map and only show the attractions you want to do on it. It is a great thing so you do not have to look at so many little numbered dots to find your way. If you have kids under 12, do not eat at Epcot for lunch, do dinner there, it is a better value and schedule a later dinner, close to park closing time because you can watch the nighttime fireworks from your restaurant table and not have to fight for a good seat an hour before hand. Do the fireworks at every park if you can, they are always amazing.

The packages you are talking about are for your room and park passes, this does not include airfare. You stay at one of the value resorts (which are outstanding by the way) and your passes are for the length of stay. They are also the base ticket, which means you are able to visit only one park per day (I would upgrade to the park hopper pass. The one park per day restriction can be a bit of a hassle. If you are at one park in the A.M. then decide to catch a show at a different one in the evening, you are only able to do that with a park hopper pass.) The airline tickets are not included.

Having said that a vacation like this is a great time, and really not as expensive as you would think. The best option is to call Disney direct instead of booking it online, tell them your plan and what kind of budget you are on and the cast members can help you to decide what will work best for your group.

Hope this helps!

Take a look at the Disney website and see everything they have to offer. Watch for specials also. Your optimum savings will be 4 people to a room. (This is max people usually) about a year before you plan on going call Disney (phone number is on the website) And speak with them about a group this size and see what they can work out for you. Also look into the Disney Dining plan to save money on food. Disney used to offer a package for larger groups but I think with 12 you are still short, you might call them now and ask, you may want to increase the size for savings or book as smaller groups, they have plans for all of this sort of thing. Book your airfare separate, I have priced it with Disney and it seems a bit high, I recommend cheaptickets.com for your airfare.

I have seen the deals you are writing about, but they Do Not include airfare. They include a stay at the value resorts and basic tickets to the parks. The best way to save money and still have a great time is to purchase the dining plan prices are not yet out for 2008, but staying on property will allow you to purchase the dining plan. I have always purchased from www.waltdisneyworld.com and used the same sight to select meals, and plan our itinerary. My brother just purchased tickets through AARP and received a large discount, including flights for his wife, himself their two boys and their wives and the three grand children.
