I spent over 20 years in the U.S. Navy and often had to wait (sick call, personnel, pay office, chow line...) and learned early on to always carry a book. I still do. I keep one book in my back pack at all times. I have found that since retiring from the USN, I have become a very patient person. If I don't read, I doze.
