i have a 8 weeks old german shepherd. I think he got sick and catched cold. He has running nose and he was sneezing. Is there any thing i can do before i take him to the vets?

I recently adopted two-month old kittens who were orphaned and one of them had colds. I thought she was just going to cure on her own but she ended up having a high fever, so I had to bring her to vet. The veterinarian said if I didn't bring my kitten to the doctor, she would've been seriously ill. The vet ended up prescribing medicine for fever and anti-biotic for an infection my cat had. After about two days, she was back to normal.

So if you ask me, I think you have to take your pet directly to the vet, especially if your dog is still a baby, as it were. I love animals and I don't want what happened to my kitten will happen to your puppy. Take your dog straight to the vet and buy whatever medication the vet prescribes right away.

Hope this helps.

Puppy colds are much similar to the colds humans get. I would suggest to just leave your german shephard be before he goes to the veterinarian. Colds aren't a serious problem to deal with, but so you don't make it worse, just give your dog extra attention and make sure he eats his food daily and gets a lot of water. As you take your dog to the veterinarian, he/she will know what to do, so all you can do is sit and wait until your puppy feels better.

like human colds, most dog and horse colds will just pass through. If you are worried though, you can take him to the vet and he will most likely get a set of antibiotics to help him recover.
