For the sake of basketball I hope it doesn't go much deeper, but I find it hard to believe that it was only one referee and no one else was involved. Who knows how big this thing could get.

It will be interesting to see what comes out of the investigation. From all accounts this guy was acting alone but I am sure there are other refs, players and coaches that bet on their own sport and even games.

absolutely, are you kidding? We are about to watch one of the biggest sports scandals unfold. We are going to have one hell of a story to follow. The FBI is going to protect this guy like you have never seen before, an official being influenced by organized crime members is the defenition of RICO. This guy will provide the FBI with the information and testimony they will need to put some of the most powerful men in organized crime behind bars for quite some time.

Unfortunately, i think it will.

"The Daily News reported Sunday, citing unidentified law enforcement sources, that Donaghy will cooperate with authorities and possibly name other officials and players involved in the betting scandal. "

Regardless of if they really were involved, it sounds like this guy is about to start singing.

I doubt it. All NBA referees love their job and would not do anything wrong. Most NBA players and coaches are very wealthy and probably would not risk their NBA career over illegal gambling. It is far more likely for division 1 college basketball players who have no chance of making the NBA to engage in illegal gambling. Anything is possible though.
