I had posted this question before. Unfortunately I posted it in a different section. I now call upon the smart people from P&S to help me answer this question:
Is it illegal in the US to be mummified? There is only one guy who does it and he charges $60K + and puts you in his front yard pyramid. I would love to be mummified when I die but don't want to be burried in this guys front yard. Any idea why not more people offer mummification?

I did some research and found a company that will mummy your remains or your pets remains. They will work in conjunction with you funeral home. You will have a regular funeral with the viewing of your body, once the ceremony is complete a specialist will come to the funeral home and begin the process.
I have enclosed a link to this site below, hope this helps...

The Summum Organisation in Salt Lake City USA offers mummification for pets and people.
The cost of mummifying an animal can run anywhere from $6,000 to over $128,000 depending on the size of the animal and the type of mummiform you choose.
Mummification is a very comprehensive process requiring four to eight months to complete - hence the cost.

First off, mummification is not a standard pratice in American culture. Although some are more open to the idea than others, the overall moral and ethical beliefs would deem mummification wrong in so many ways.
Maybe mummification is not all that bad, maybe it's much better than cremation or an actual burial ceremony in a casket...who knows? The bottom line is, we are creatures of habit and habit shows that unless your name is tutankamen, you have no business getting your brains pulled and your body saturated in resign and wrapped up. Besides, it's not even performed in Egypt; it's performed and remained in some guys' front yard! What's in his backyard? A pet cemetary?

You can always donate your body to science. I've seen a documentary on those 2 professors in some university. They were studying how the Egyptians were performing mummification. Maybe, if you die soon, they could do it for you... You know, you help science, they help you. That's the only way I know.

I wish I was smart enough to know the answer to this....but I am not. I just want to know WHY you want to be mummified...I thought I was weird LOL
Did you know it cost $150 dollars to cremate a dog the same size as a human (in pounds) and $1500 for a human. I am currently looking for a vet who will cremate me. ha They use the same equipment.

I don't think it is...
I mean as long as your dead.
That would be homicide.
Do you know the actual process of mummification? It's extremely gross.
