The ticking is probably the rockers on the valves as it lose oil pressure. If, you caught this in time there may be no real damage. But, you need to find where the oil is coming from. Blown head gasket?
First I tell a person to check the Dip Stick, is it all the way in? Sounds crazy, but, I have seen this actually happen on an engine. Oil everywhere and the guy was freaking the engine was blown. I seen the dip stick hanging out about 1 inch. Pushed it in all the way and cleaned up the engine and checked the oil level and it ran like a top.
One more story; Another guy had Oil everywhere and lost oil pressure on the gage. I ask; "What have you done to it recently"? He said; "Tune up and oil change". We put oil in it and cranked it up, ran good, but, I look at the new oil filter and oil was coming out steady under pressure. Removed the new oil filter and the "old" rubber o-ring that stayed from the "old" filter and it sealed up. I have only seen this once in my whole life. But, I tell the guy, I guess that why the Oil Filters say on the Box to check the o-rings. ;-)

do yourself a favor and take it to a good mechanic. doesn't sound too good. although it could be simply a broken oil pressure sending unit.
