6th? I'm not sure what order these are in but i guess;
civil war
vietnam war
ww1
ww2
korean war (?)
had more casualties than the War Of Terror. He's a better killer than his daddy (gulf war), right?

Oh, i'm not asking about the wars directly. I realize some of these operations span multiple presidents. I would caount the casualties under each president seperately. Choose as you see fit to include American, NATO/"Allied", civilian casualties, etc. I'm not asking about the politics.

If you assert Clinton, that is fine. Can you cite a reference?

Gotta respond not to the question, which is a good question, but to all the other answerers. To the first answerer, "more U.S. servicemen died under Clinton." Comeon? Just research stuff before you say it and we'd all appreciate it.
On the other side of everyone that says Bush must be near the top, once again, you gotta research the answer. Bombing in Germany during WWII killed up to 600,000 German civilians (it was 580,000 in Japan). The Max from Iraqbodycount.org is 74,000 Iraqi civilians killed. Even if we multiply that by 5, it would not even compare to one front of civilian casualties in WWII. These are not even comparable!
Back to the question, if we are talking about just U.S. casualties from President's decisions:
It is under (in order of U.S. combat deaths)
Korean War
Vietnam War
World War I
Civil War
World War II
It would also be under the Revolutionary war, but that was not declared by a president but by the Conteninental Congress.
Although Bush is not the deadliest President (although I ethically feel wrong ranking them!) the fact that it was because of a bad decision and poor planning certainly makes it more disturbing.

right here's a record that i chanced on... one million. Abraham Lincoln 2. George Washington 3. Theodore Roosevelt 4. Franklin D. Roosevelt 5. Thomas Jefferson 6. Ronald Reagan 7. Harry S. Truman 8. Dwight D. Eisenhower 9. James Monroe 10. James Madison 11. John Adams 12. John F. Kennedy 13. Woodrow Wilson 14. Andrew Jackson 15. John Quincy Adams sixteen. George H.W. Bush 17. James Polk 18. William McKinley 19. Lyndon Baines Johnson 20. Richard Nixon No, i do no longer think of he's everywhere close to the coolest. in all probability someplace in the direction of the midsection/backside (?). undergo in innovations, he's no longer completed yet. people's critiques will in all probability substitute over the years reckoning on how efficient we are in Iraq, Afghanistan etc. it particularly is too early to tell how his judgements will play out interior the long-term. for my section, i do no longer think of he's THAT undesirable, yet he would not deserve a gap close to the coolest as of 2008.

You can't base the character of an individual based on their circumstances, but how strong the stood to the face of their circumstances. I believe President Bush is a strong President and I thank him for his courageous leadership!

Since Presidents don't actually "kill" anyone, the premise of your question is ridiculous. That being said, a President can't control the situation he comes into when he takes office, but once he is dealt the hand, how he plays it isn't entirely up to him. You are trying in vain to make a point, you should have thought it through a little better.

When you take into account the hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis who have died as a direct result of Bush's actions,he must be very near the top

Dubya hasn't dropped any nukes (yet), so WWII probably still takes the cake.
Still a pretty deadly president - especially due to his ignorance, arrogance, and the agenda of the people who support him.
