And take the series? KC is starting to show some life, and they are looking to keep the whiney sux in the cellar where they belong.

Clemens is gonna get roughed up tonight, just watch. I'd love to say that KC is definitely going to win the series, but every time I do that they go and get swept. So I'm going to go with the formula that worked in Detroit - our best chance of winning will be with Meche on the mound on Wednesday and against Kei Igawa on Thursday. I'd love to see those bats stay alive to give me the opportunity to take my broom to the game Thursday night, though. I think we'll split the series - Yankees are hitting really well right now.

They very well could. The Yankees have not played well on the road (although KC is 8 under .500 at home), but their bats are booming right now. The Royals' pitching is certainly better than Tampa Bay's, but how much better remains to be seen. All that being said, the Royals have to be very confident right now, and confidence can do a lot for a young team. Three out of four isn't impossible, but a 2-2 split is more likely.

Was there a rule this month that the Yankees have to play teams from the bottom of the league after the All Star game? Was this set up to get them back in contention or what!
Since the break they have / had:
Tampa (easy)
Toronto (easy)
Tampa (easy)
KC (easy)
Baltimore (easy)
White Sox (easy)
KC (easy)
Toronto (easy)
This has to be the easist month in baseball history! I know - the schedule is the schedule. But really - good luck has fallen into their laps by playing all these dogs!!
So to know what the Yankees are all about - check out how they do starting August 10th. Then they play:
Cleveland (hard)
Baltimore (easy)
Detroit (hard)
Angels (hard)
Detroit (hard)
Boston (hard)

Of course, the September schedule is light and fluffy too. They end the year with:
Tampa (easy)
Seattle (mid range)
KC (easy)
Toronto (easy)
Boston (hard)
Baltimore (easy)
Toronto (easy)
Tampa (easy)
Baltimore (easy)

I know this had nothing to do with the question asked - but man, what a cake walk for 2/3 or the remaining games. And before anyone gets all huffy - Toronto is a below .500 team. They are not that good.

It almost looks like a setup doesn't it. The Yankees are coming off of a lopsided affair with Tampa Bay and here come the spoilers. With Boston playing the Indians and Minnesota, The Yanks can make up some ground here if they play well. I'm going to predict that the Yanks tear up KC and Baltimore and close in on Boston.

I can only hope that K.C. keeps it up. Been a K.C. fan since a little kid. Every year it seemed my hopes were dashed by the Yankees in the playoffs. Yankees may find some trouble because they are now expected to win their games. What do the Royals have to lose? Nothing, so I think they will play a lot looser. When you score that many runs in a row, your performance tends to fade after such emotional highs.
I guessing a split of the series.

absolutely... the yankees dont have anywhere near the pitching that the redsox, tigers and indians have...they will have to remain motivated to beat the stinkees though, even thought im sure the prima donna skankees probably think theyre gonna be a push over... since thats the case the royals will probably take the series..if that doesnt work buddy bell should hypnotize them into thinking the ny is the olde english d... they would win alot...lol... the royals are getting much better...besides the skankees used up all their runs for this series in the series with tampa....

a fellow sure can hope, can't they? the real question is can the yankees bats keep up with this pace. If KC can split or take the series, Moore will be under huge pressure to keep the team together, and if this young team can keep up the pace, that central is going to be impossible next year.

I hope KC keeps it up. The Yankees have been inconsistent ALL year long, so they could easily lose this series and score little runs after wasting them on the AAA Rays. We have seen them do this many times during the season. Go Royals!

Yankees just got spanked by Tampa Bay and KC will continue the beating.

Sorry Yankee haters, but the Yankees are going to slaughter Kansas City. Kansas City may have shown some life against Boston and Detroit, but that won't happen to the Yankees, the way they are playing now.

The Yankees didn't hit well for most of last week, but exploded this weekend. There is no way that every single guy is going to cool off, and they are going to pile up some stats against the Royals. A-Rod, Cano, Jeter, Posada, and Abreu are going to pick up where they left off Sunday.

I have to laugh at all these "God I hope the Yankees lose" or "I hope they get swept" answers, especially from people whose teams don't even play the Yankees. It seems there are some very unhappy people in this world, who desperately need lives.

It looks as if everyone who thinks the Yankees are going to beat up on Kansas City is getting a thumbs down for disagreeing. Oh, well, as I said above.
