you ask any UT player who thye want to beat the most and they will say BAMA. The rivalry between florida was small and only lasted a few years.

They've played Vanderbilt forever, so in terms of time....there's your longest rival.
Alabama is the rival that they developed a lot of history with, and that rivalry has gone on for awhile. 3rd week of October, baby.
I think the Bama rivalry lost some of it's luster when Bama went downhill and had some NCAA sanctions. I know during my time at UT it was more of a big deal when Florida came to town. Florida is a big rival right now. There's hate there! But that is relatively recent to develop. Especially compared to Vandy and Bama.

Philip Fulmer's longest and greatest rivalry is against an entire side of beef. Fulmer has tried repeatedly to ingest an entire side of beef, but to no avail. His last effort came 3 weeks ago. He started at the shoulder, knocked out the shoulder roast, breezed through the ribs, tender loin, rib eyes, and t-bones, but only got half way through with the rump roast. Some say that he would have eaten the entire thing had it not been for the 3 quarts of potato salad, and the 1.3 gallons of baked beans. When asked about his obsession with eating an entire side of beef, Fulmer stated "With all the attention Charlie Weis is getting for eating that 18 wheeler load of pork, I have to do everything in my power to set a world eating record of my own. If there is going to be a coach fall out on the side lines with a massive coronary this year, by God it's going to be me."

I would have to say Alabama. They didn't have a rival in Florida til Spurrier came along. They have been battling Alabama for decades

Longest is Vanderbilt, obviously the instate rivalry...but it is one-sided...All time has to be Alabama, but recently, I hate to break it to you, but its been Florida since Steve Spurrier was there...
