Depends on size and weight of caravan !
As a "for example", a friend tows my old Elddis Hurricane that weighs about 1100 kg loaded with a 2Lr Diesel Ford Focus Cmax (manual), and says it`s "Lovely", better than her old car, a Citroen Xaviera 2Lr Diesel.

I am only 14, but I have been caravanning several times! The Vauxhall Vectra is a great car for towing a caravan! Dramatic styling, improved driving dynamics and high levels of standard equipment all combine to set new standards of comfort and control. The car's chassis is entirely in tune with UK roads and with a powerful engine line-up that includes V6 petrol turbo performance, alongside advanced common rail turbo diesel technology.
For more information go on: www.vauxhall.co.uk
Once you are on the page, hover the mouse over the "cars" menu at the top of the page and scroll down to "view the range" then "vectra".
I hope this helps!

Matching the burden of the automobile and van is a fabulous initiate except the burden has trailer brakes. All autos, 4x4's, etc have max towing load (braked/unbraked) placarded on them someplace. As for engines, quicker diesels are acceptable for performance. A handbook can get somewhat under pressure in the snatch region, so an automobile is a fabulous suggestion. There does not be too lots a huge 7.0L quicker D Ford F truck could not tow around! i might relatively like a TD Landcruiser. do in contrast to automobile's lots yet. we don't get countless huge US suv's in Australia

you should look in the manual of the caravan, usually they give you an idea of the best range of engine that will handle the load.
Personally if your looking for an easy reliable vehicle your best bet would be a VW Passat or something similar, something thats been round for a while (thus tried and tested, and most of the kinks are worked out) plus you can use it as a normal family car, work car etc.
some even come with simple removeable tow bars now.

The ute tray is the equivilant to having a trailer for extra camping gear I have towed for 43 years and never had anything better I have towed long trips of over 12000 kilometers with this .It is comfortable it does not have facy window electrics to cause trouble it is basic and trouble free seats 5 .~~

A Tractor or any thing above 1500cc should be sufficient for most small caravans.

4 door Ford F250 Turbo. It's 2 wheel drive with a 4 wheel drive option mode. I drive one and I love it! The kids are comfy and we've got plenty of room and hauling power.
