If someone was really that suspicious that they needed to be tracked down.. It's called an IP address, they can track you down by the address of your internet.

An IP address (Internet Protocol address) is a unique address that certain electronic devices use in order to identify and communicate with each other on a computer network utilizing the Internet Protocol standard (IP)—in simpler terms, a computer address.

Anyhow, what are the gifts? Yes, I'd like to sport Y!A t-shirt.. Knowing the kids at my school, they'd see the shirt, ask what it's about, I'd tell them "It's this huge site of people who are there to answer your questions and you answer theirs. The people are other users of the internet, some are professional and some are just average Joes!" and they would swarm onto the site.

It seems a lot of users got an email about registering for a free gift. I think it's a scam.

What free gift? Y/A posts their offers on the Yahoo homepage. I wouldn't trust any others. The last free gift I received was the tote bag...never did get the light bulb. Oh well !!!

They have another free gift - cool - I got the green mug last year. I have to find the link. They have my address already anyway - I am not worried about a major fortune 500 company getting my address and varifying I am who I say I am - they could find it out anyway. So no worries here.
Good Luck!!!

I went for it. And I do believe it's genuine - I know I'm going to sound like a bit of a geek, but the email sent out to claim was 'DomainKeys verified', which is a system used by Yahoo to confirm that an email is from the claimed domain.

Yahoo answers already know your details.
BE VERY CAREFUL, this could be a scam by a third party to obtain your details. Just having a valid looking address doesn't mean it's genuine.

Please do not mention this 'free gift' in my presence......I am very miffed about this as I don't appear to be getting one.......I was on level 7 until a couple of weeks ago and had to start again as the trolls got me suspended.
