We just bought a house with a carport. This carport roof doesn't look like it's been cleaned in some time, and is right beneath a large oak tree. Is there a solution you could recommend to clean the top of this roof so it isn't so unsightly? Thanks in advance for any reply!

Sure thing! LOL, just had a similar question a few seconds ago.

Use a 1 part bleach 5 parts water solution to remove the mildew.

Then head over and get some sealant (I'm assuming the carport has a metal roof) Match up your roof type with the sealant and apply after the bleach/water has dried.

Not real expensive on the sealant, and if you go out with the hose 2-3 times a year and rinse it off you wont ever have to do it again.

Good Luck!

If the tree isn't in the way, try standing on top of the house roof(not the carport itself), squirt some dish liquid soap on the roof at the high end(attached to the house roof), and then spray it with a pressure washer. You might need a stiff bristle brush for some places, but mostly the pressure washer will do the job. I've used this technique several times, and it almost always goes smoothly. Good Luck.

Pressure spray a mixture of water and bleach, 3 part water, 1 part bleach. Allow it to set approximately 2-3 minutes, then rinse throughly with water.
You may have to repeat until clean.

This is all professionals use but they tell you how magical their cleaners are.

Clorox and watter fifty fifty mix, spray with a pressure spray 'gun' and hose down immediately. This will destroy mildew but ineffective against metal corrosion.
