In the book of Howl's Moving Castle, it says that Sophie makes a patchwork skirt by cutting up one of Howl's old suits into lots of triangles. I'd love to know how she made it into a skirt. Can someone explain how this works?

You sew the triangles together top to bottom till you have a strip. Then when you have a lot of strips, you sew the strips together to make a big piece of fabric. You sew the ends of the fabric together to make a seam, fold one side over and sew it so there is a tube on one side, then feed elastic into the tube so it makes a pull over skirt. Sew in a hem on the other end and you're done!

You can take any pattern of a skirt that fits you, cut it into small pieces, (triangles if you like,) and cut the fabric to these pieces, of course with the bit extra around to sew them together.

For a starter I would not make too many small pieces, and you need to whole pattern, not just half as you would normally have.

If you cut your pattern into strips first, you can sew the small pieces first into the same strips, and the strips next to the panels of the pattern.

Number the pieces so you can solve the puzzle easily.

it's easy just cut up whatever you want into triangles right, then get a pattern of a skirt you like from any fabric store...place the triangles on that pattern and sew them together, then sew a nice fabic on the inside so it's soft on the inside 3 ya :P
