Mermaids tend to be fairly harmless creatures. You know like Frankenstine, Angel the Vampire with a soul, stuff like that. So don't try to harm her in any way. What you do is take your favorite thing to put in your hair with you and give it to her as a peace offering. Then you might never see her again. She might ask you for a favor or two but she won't try to harm you if you don't harm her.
